Gatortrax
Math is the foundation of engineering. Math is a springboard
to many exciting careers. Math drives our economy to improve
our standard of living.
The Engineering GATORTRAX Math
Excellence project provides students in grades 6 - 12 with
opportunities to learn mathematics with hands-on activities.
Students participate in:
- Regular classroom instruction
- A Saturday Engineering program
- Mentoring
- Mathematics summer camps
- Field trips

Engineering GATORTRAX is
designed to pave the way to careers in engineering or other fields
that require creative thinking, analytical, and problem-solving
skills. Student goals include:
- Completion of algebra by 8th grade
- Completion of calculus by 12th grade
- Successful completion of pre-engineering studies at community
colleges
- Successful completion of engineering studies at universities

Engineering GATORTRAX is
a Math Excellence project funded by the GE Foundation
through its K - 16 Math Excellence Initiative. Project
collaborators are:
- UF College of Engineering
- UF College of Education
- Four community colleges and their local school districts
- Miami-Dade CC, Miami
Miami-Dade Public Schools
- Santa Fe CC, Gainesville
Alachua County Public Schools
- Valencia CC, Orlando
Orange County Public Schools
- SECME Inc., a national pre-college program in science
and math
- National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering
(NACME)
- Private corporations
