Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much time must my child commit to GatorTRAX?
A. A total of 10 Saturday activities will be conducted throughout
the academic year. These are scheduled from 9:00 - 12:00 noon.
In addition, a week-long summer math camp is provided.
Q. What if my child cannot attend a Saturday actvity?
A. Students selected for GatorTRAX are expected to participate
in the scheduled activities. However, it is understood that sometimes
schedule conflicts occur. If a student misses a significant number
of activities, parents will be contacted to discuss continuation
in the program.
Q. How are students selected for GatorTRAX?
A. GatorTRAX is supported by a grant from the GE Fund. Its objective
is to increase the number of underrepresented students in higher
level math classes, specifically African-Americans, Hispanics,
and girls. However, the program is currently open to all students
who demonstrate an interest in math. Should student applications
exceed the limitations of funding, selection criteria will be
based upon the student's math courses, grades, and potential
ability to complete a) Algebra 1 in 8th grade, and b) Calculus
in 12th grade.
