For the past 6 years we have been fortunate to offer a Summer Camp for our GatorTrax students.
They have gathered each year for a week of engineering exploration, design, and building competitions.
Our grant funding has come to an end, and this summer we will not offer the camp program. However, UF student chapter
of Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honors society, will continue to offer the Saturday sessions throughout the academic
year. Mr. Fayiga, who has devoted his time as the District Coordinator, will continue to provide guidance and support.
On a personal note, I want to express my appreciation to all the students and parents who have been so committed to
the GatorTrax program. We have achieved many things. Your commitment has made this project a success, and I feel
priveleged to have worked with each of you.
To Mr. F, the engineering students, and the other teachers who have worked on making hands-on math a reality, THANK YOU.
You have touched and inspired many, many students.
This fall, one of our own Alachua County students, who has been with the program since its inception, joins us here
at the University of Florida College of Engineering to begin his University Studies. Welcome, Xavier.
This has been a team effort. Many thanks to each and every one. I hope that you will continue to provide support, insight,
and guidance as the program evolves and moves to the next level.
Best regards,
Deborah Mayhew
